The method involves allowing a solution to flow in a filtration direction through a membrane module (2) e.g. ultra-filtration membrane unit, in a filtration phase to separate components of the solution. The solution is made to flow in a back direction opposite to the filtration direction in a back rinsing phase to rinse a membrane (2a) e.g. ceramic membrane, of the membrane module. A regeneration phase is performed for regeneration of the membrane, where oxidation agent regeneration liquid is made to flow through the membrane module in the filtering direction in the regeneration phase. An independent claim is also included for a device for separating components of a solution.
