The method involves locking a lid (12) by a control device drive (18) between a closing position and a bended stroke position of a roof opening (14). A rear end region (20) of the lid is raised. The lid is switched between the closing position and stroke position by the control device drive in dependence of running speed of a motor vehicle. An independent claim is included for lifting roof for motor vehicle.
