The forming tool (100) has a main portion that is made of the steel material. A die cavity (130) is formed corresponding to the shape of the component. The steel material is formed within the die cavity regions with different material properties. A specific adjustment of the resistance of the main portion is obtained to locally different stresses during massive forming of the metal material. The regions with different material properties are clearly distinguished from each other. An independent claim is included for a method of fabricating a forming tool.
