Rolling bearing-supported shaft comprises at least one shaft body made of a first material, comprising bearing points respectively having a running surface for rolling bodies. The running surface is applied as a layer of a thermally sprayed second material on the shaft body at least in the region of the respective bearing point. An independent claim is also included for manufacturing the shaft, comprising (a) providing the shaft body, (b) providing the second material, (c) applying a layer of the second material on the shaft body at least in the region of the bearing points, by thermal spraying, to form the running surfaces, and (d) post-processing the shaft body at least in the region of the bearing points, for dimensioning the running surfaces.
