The unit (1) has an electrical generator unit (12) attached to an electrical voltage tap (7), and producing an electrical generator-output voltage (Vga). A regulating unit (14) regulates an electric current (I2) flowing through another electrical voltage tap (8) by adjusting the electrical generator-output voltage and a converted electrical output voltage (Va) such that an electrical current (Ib1) flowing through battery units (5) is equal to an electrical current (Ib2) flowing through other battery units (6), which are electrically connected in parallel to each other. An independent claim is also included for a motor car.
