The friction clutch (1) has a diaphragm spring (5), which is deformed by a clutch controller (17), and a pressure plate (2), which stays in an operative connection with the diaphragm spring. A clutch disk (18) is clamped for transmission of torque between a flywheel (20) and the pressure plate. A release spring (8) supports the pressure plate against a clutch cover (6) and extends over the circumference of the pressure plate. The release spring is made of steel and is designed as a stamped part.
