The transformer (20) has a layer structure with two electric circuits (1, 2), which are galvanically separated from each other. A magnetic core (4) partially encloses the layer structure, and acts on the electric circuits. The electric circuits lie in a plane, and form a layer of the layer structure. The electric circuits are arranged on a common horizontal layer, and include a minimum isolation distance relative to each other. The minimum isolation distance provides an intrinsically-safe galvanic separation between the electric circuits.
