The fuel cell system (1) has a fuel cell (3) having an anode space (4) and a cathode space (5). A recirculation line (9) is used for returning exhaust gas from the anode space. A gas jet pump (10) as the recirculation conveyor is formed in the recirculation line for ideal operating point at partial load. An independent claim is included for a method for operating fuel cell system.
