The air pump is provided with one-stage radial blower (1). A two-phase switched reluctance motor is provided in flat configuration with specific operating speed. The motor is configured to drive the radial blower between suction ring (3) and motor frame. The radial blower has suction port (1-4) that is provided with several opening via which air intake is enabled. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for reducing starting current for secondary electric air pump; and (2) a building block principle for secondary electric air pump.
