The turbine (28) has an adjusting element (52) i.e. exit variability element, whose adjustment is started from an intermediate position of another adjusting element (48) i.e. entry variability element and from a first minimal position of the exit variability element into a second maximum position of the exit variability element with respect to the entry variability element. The entry variability element in the intermediate position is adjusted to the second minimal position around 60%-90% of a switching position. The entry variability element is also designed as rotary vane. The exit variability element is also designed as cone slider. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a turbine.
