The method involves performing a drying process for drying substance (108) e.g. hogged wood and timber pellet. The drying process is matched with a thermodynamic cyclic process such that withdrawn thermal energy from the thermodynamic cyclic process is exploited for drying the substance during the drying process. Waste heat from engines in the thermodynamic cyclic process is exploited while transferring thermal energy for vaporizing the working medium. Fuel fermentation gas is burned in combustion process. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a thermodynamic cyclic process.
