The construction machine (1) has a waste heat-generating drive unit (7), particularly a diesel engine, a coolant circuit for a liquid cooling medium, and an operating fluid system. A device for heating the operating fluid is provided such that the falling of the temperature of the operating fluid below the freezing point of the operating fluid is prevented. The operating fluid heating device is fed with the waste heat of the drive unit. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for preventing the freezing of an operating fluid of a construction machine with a drive unit; and (2) a method for cooling a liquid coolant of a drive unit of a construction machine.
