The waste water collecting device (10) has a frame unit for manually removable support of a collecting canister (12), a level measuring unit (40) for measuring a filling state and a display unit (60) for displaying the filling state of the collecting canister. The collecting canister is connected through a lockable fluid path with a reservoir (18). A distributor unit (14) is connected to the reservoir for distributing the waste water to the two collecting containers. A valve unit (50) is provided for the fluid-switchable opening or closing of the collecting canister. An independent claim is included for method for filling waste water collecting device.
