The device has a scrapping unit (10) including two scrapers (12-22), where the scrapers are provided in contact with an upper surface (26) to be cleaned. The scrapping unit is rotated around a mountable shaft along a longitudinal axis, where a portion of the upper surface limits a chamber in an inner part of a hollow shaft. A cleaning apparatus for the scrapping unit includes a carrier strip with longitudinal edges, where one of the longitudinal edges lies opposite to the other longitudinal edge. The carrier strip is firmly clamped along the former longitudinal edge. The carrier strip is formed from a flexible material.
