The method involves removing a non-metallic core layer (10) from a light panel (2), by squeezing the light panel. The metallic layers (6,8) of the light panel is deformed in the removal area of the non-metallic core layer, so that the inner surfaces of metallic layers contact. A connecting element (12) is inserted in an opening formed in the light panel. The force of the connecting element is applied on the light panel in the contact area of the metallic layers and removal area of the non-metallic core layer, for frictional connection between the light panel and a component (4).
