The powertrain (10) has an attenuation device (20) arranged parallel to the powertrain for attenuating torsional vibrations (16) of the powertrain and exciting impulse-like counter-rotational vibrations in the powertrain. The attenuation device comprises a torque transmission device for attenuation of the torsional vibrations, where the transmission device is provided with a powertrain-fixed delivering element, a device-fixed tap element and a clutch (24). The attenuation device is formed by the clutch and two partial drives (27, 28). An independent claim is also included for a method for attenuating torsional vibrations in a powertrain of a motor car.
