The method involves making multiple wires from a coating material. The electrical power is supplied to an arc, by the wires. Multiple process variables influencing a coating process are detected, and supplied to a process controller. The process variables are controlled by the process controller, based on a process model. The wires are heated and softened before performing an arc atomization by current flow. An independent claim is included for a twin wire arc spray coating apparatus.
