The method involves determining a value of a coordinate of an image. A function to be optimized is chosen such that a function value of the function depends on image values of a portion of the image, where the portion of the image yields the coordinate of the image. The coordinate is utilized as a search parameter for particle swarm optimization, and the function is utilized as an objective function of the optimization, where the coordinate indicates a position on a coordinate axis of the image. A value of an angle (alpha) is utilized for segmentation of an image.
