The method involves generating the energy consumption data of different energy consumers as a function of the energy consumption measurement and energy consumption calculation. The data related to the reference and calculated energy levels of the energy consumers, is stored in database/information processing system (6). The material web production plant is controlled using the database/information processing system, such that the energy cost of the energy consumers is minimized.
