3,7,11-Trimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatrien-1-yl-2-hydroxybenzoate (I), is new. Independent claims are included for: (1) an agent comprising (I); and (2) producing washing or cleaning agent with reduced bad scents, comprising either mixing (I) with further ingredients of washing or cleaning agents, fabric softeners, hygienic rinses or dryer sheets, or applying (I) on a powdery carrier, and optionally mixing the mixture with perfume in nonionic surfactant and mixing the resultant product with further ingredients of the washing or cleaning agent.
