The method involves placing the 100[deg] C hot metal intermediate product (14) in a conveyor path. A cooling medium inlet (16) and a cooling medium outlet (18) are provided in a heat exchange chamber (10). The cooling medium is supplied into the heat exchange chamber and sprayed on the hot metal intermediate product through the cooling medium inlet. The heated cooling medium in the form of water vapor is dissipated through the cooling medium outlet. The heat is recovered from the discharged heated cooling medium. An independent claim is included for a metal processing facility.
