The assembly has a supporting element (5) inserted into a plunger body (4) and a roller (6). The supporting element is parallel to the roller longitudinal axis of longitudinal extent and forms lateral faces that are spaced apart from a peripheral wall (9) of the plunger body to form cavities. The supporting element is non-positively and/or positively connected to end faces (11) with the plunger body. The plunger body is provided on a camshaft side that comprises a bottom portion, which is provided with a recess for receiving and holding the roller.
