Preparing anhydrous ammonium trivanadate, comprises: preparing an aqueous solution by mixing ammonium metavanadate with acetic acid or acetic acid-water mixture; adjusting a pH value of the aqueous solution to 2.5-5; heating the aqueous solution in a closed system at 140-180[deg] C and under a pressure of 1 MPa for 24-48 hours; then cooling; filtering; and washing and drying the received solid material. An independent claim is included for an anhydrous ammonium trivanadate consisting of ammonium trivanadate with a single-phase microcrystalline monoclinic crystalline structure, which has a rosette-like, particle-like, band-like, prismatic and/or plate-like morphology.
