The method involves determining concentration of hydrogen fluoride in a region of a lithium ion battery (11) and/or an air conditioning apparatus using a sensor system during operation of a motor car, where the sensor system comprises a sensor (12). Received measured concentration values of the sensor system are transmitted to a circuitry (13) that adjusts the concentration values with a threshold value. A warning e.g. visual warning and auditory warning, is output by an actuator system when the concentration values exceed the threshold value. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a security system for recognition of hydrogen fluoride in a region of a motor car and warning people (2) a motor car.
