The method involves assigning signal sources (S11, S12, S21, S22) to distribution assemblies (R1, R2), and transmitting identification signal (IS) from the signal sources by using high-frequency band. A radio network-specific measurement value (M1) and a measurement valve (M2) specific for the signal sources are measured by a mobile terminal e.g. mobile phone, of a moving object (OB), where the values are measured as received signal strength indication or bit rate. Position of the moving object is derived from the combination of the measurement values and the identification signal.
