The cutter (10) has an extendable device element (18) i.e. telescope arm, arranged between a cutting head (12) and a switching element (14). The device element is realized by an insertable intermediate part. A drive unit (16) is realized by a hydraulic unit (40) and an electrical drive. The electrical drive is provided with an electric motor (21) and a battery (24). The battery is received by a gripping element (28). An interface receives the intermediate part. A length of the extendable device element is stepwise adjusted from compact to long.
