The cooking appliance (1) has exterior metal surfaces (10,15,17) provided with a coating (16), where the coating has a lower thermal conductivity than the metal surface. The metal surface is formed as a viewing surface. The metallic surface is an upper surface of a front cover (14) of a cooking appliance door (12). The upper surface is an operating cover (5), which is formed externally on the operating elements (6,7).
