A negative pressure or a positive pressure is provided to the application of dried porous building material layers (21) at a pressure applying port (28) by the compressor. A pressure measuring device (31) is adapted to provide a pressure measurement signal, which is indicative for the pressure at the pressure applying port. A control device is connected to the pressure measuring device. An independent claim is included for a method for dehumidifying porous material layers.
