The device has a drive shaft (6) indirectly coupled with a spring force-subjected conducting sheet (8) by a trapezoidal moving thread (12) with a thread sleeve (13). A control sleeve (17) is displaceably guided in a guide pin (18) of the sheet. A lock (20) is provided within a pump shaft (21) of a coolant pump between the control sleeve and the pin. The lock fixes or decouples the thread sleeve of the drive shaft, spring units, a return spring (15), and an equalizing spring (27) of the control sleeve based on a stroke of the thread sleeve and/or selection of the units and the springs. The coolant pump is an impeller pump.
