The engine has an inlet opening for coolant connected to an internal combustion engine main portion. An outlet opening for coolant is connected to a coolant pump (4). The outlet opening is located substantially axially with respect to an axis of rotation of the coolant pump, to convey coolant from the coolant pump into a coolant channel (9) to the internal combustion engine main portion. The coolant pump is an electrically operated coolant pump. The coolant channel is extended from the coolant pump into a crankcase (1), to open the inlet opening.
