The injector (1) has an injection portion (20) with displaceably mounted injection needle (42) that is provided for injecting fluid. A needle stroke sensor (100) is provided for determining a movement and/or position of the injection needle, and is formed as inductive, a magnetic induction and/or a capacitive sensor. The needle stroke sensor is spaced apart from an actuator (22).
