The method involves initiating the processing steps of multiple processing stations one after the other in a particular clock cycle at a production sequence of a vehicle. A time required for processing of each processing station is set, and the production sequence of the respective vehicle is determined independent of the respectively assigned time requirement. The production sequence of the vehicle is changed with an occurrence of an event remain in the determination of the disregarded production sequence.
