The method involves determining residual energy parameter of an electric vehicle as a function of the stored energy. A travel route for the electric vehicle is selected and an amount of energy required for driving the vehicle is determined. A determination of whether the residual energy of the vehicle is sufficient for reaching destination of the selected route is performed based on the energy parameter.
