Interior trim component (10) comprises a carrier part pressed with a top layer. The carrier part is a composite material (1), which comprises natural fibers and plastic fibers. The weight percent of natural fibers in the composite material is higher than the weight percentage of plastic fibers. The top layer is hydrophobicizing. An independent claim is also included for producing the interior trim component, comprising (a) preparing the composite material by mixing natural fibers and plastic fibers into a loose fiber composite, (b) applying a hydrophobic nonwoven fabric covering on the composite by connecting together the nonwoven fiber covering and composite material using a needling technique, (c) loading the composite material with applied nonwoven fiber covering in a hot press (6), (d) pre-compressing the composite material with applied nonwoven fiber covering in the hot press by heating the composite material and the nonwoven fiber covering to a temperature above the melting temperature of the plastic fibers, (e) opening the hot press and transferring the composite material with applied nonwoven fiber covering in a shaping tool by cold forming the composite material and the nonwoven fiber covering.
