The device (1) has a base part (2) provided with a container. An armrest (4) is placed in bottom of a retainer relative to the base part. A joint arrangement (5) is designed as container lids and provided with articulated arms (6a, 6b). The articulated arms are connected with the base part by two joints (7, 8). A guide link (9) extends along longitudinal direction (L) of the base part and provided in a region of a front end section of the articulated arm. A rear end portion (11) is articulated with the armrest. An independent claim is also included for a motor car.
