The failure envelope sequence circuit (130) has an amplitude calculating unit to generate an amplitude signal, which approximates the amplitude of an input signal, and a maximum value detector connected to the amplitude calculating unit. The maximum value detector takes the samples of the amplitude signal within a time window and generates a failure envelope signal that represents a maximum value of amplitude. A signal processing unit processes the failure envelope signal for controlling a power supply input stage of a power amplifier (150).
