The motor vehicle (2) has an electromotor (6) for driving the wheels of the motor vehicle. An accumulator (10) supplies first voltage (U1) to the onboard network (15) of the motor vehicle. The electromotor is coupled to a monitoring device (30) for monitoring onboard network, so that the electromotor is switched to generator mode in case of failure of the onboard network.
