The method involves placing dye-Tine ink (45) on an intermediate medium (2), where the ink is warmed up, evaporated and/or solidified. A part of the ink is transferred from the intermediate medium to a print material (43). Pigment-free or dye-free ink (45e) is applied to a print image by depending on a covering surface in picture areas of the print image. The print image is provided in inkjet heads (16e) such that a high surface covering is achieved in the picture areas by mixing the dye-free ink with the dye-Tine ink.
