The machine (1) has a high pressure terminal (8) for supplying pressurized fluid, and a low pressure terminal (9) for discharging the pressurized fluid. A bypass is provided over the high pressure terminal and the low pressure terminal that are connected by a control device (15) e.g. magnet actuator and pressurized air actuator, such that the machine is torque-freely switched. The bypass and the control device are integrated and arranged within the machine. A hold-down attachment (11) i.e. back pressure chamber (12), is operated by the pressurized fluid. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a fluid energy machine for conversion of energy from pressurized fluid into mechanical energy under pressure.
