The method involves providing ink jet printing device for generating printing layer, and providing thermal transfer printing device for generating second printing layer. The sheet to be printed is feed to ink jet and thermal transfer printing devices. The printed sheet formed with partially overlapped printing layers is transferred to processing unit which is used for processing the printed sheet by carrying out back-molding of printed sheet with carrier material to produce carrier structure. The printing layers are arranged between printed sheet and carrier structure. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) the apparatus for producing printed plastic component; and (2) the panel assembly for household appliance.
