The method involves detecting three-dimensional image data of the surrounding by a detection device (3) arranged at the vehicle (2). A database is generated from the three-dimensional image data, in which color information are linked with depth information. A representation of the surrounding is generated from the database and is displayed. The database comprises a scatter plot with points, each of which are assigned a depth information and a color information. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a vehicle display device for displaying the surrounding of a vehicle; (2) a vehicle with a three-dimensional sensor; (3) a vehicle assembly with wireless communication connection; and (4) a training system with a simulation unit.
