The method involves continuously detecting driver distance from a motor vehicle, and executing a first light function of the motor vehicle when the driver is at first distance from the motor vehicle, where the first light function comprises switching on of an apron lighting of the motor vehicle. A mechanical movement of a portion i.e. outside mirror or tailgate, of the motor vehicle is performed when the driver is at second distance from the vehicle. A second light function of the motor vehicle is executed for power sequencing for rearview mirror flashing lights. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle.
