The system (1) has a ventilation duct (2) with an inlet (3) for supplying air from an external space (30) of the vehicle (10) and an outlet (4) for delivering the air taken into the interior (40) of the vehicle. A particulate filter (5) is arranged within the ventilation duct at the inlet and a gas filter (6) is arranged within the ventilation duct between the particulate filter and the outlet. A cleaning device (7) is adapted to perform cleaning process by which the filtered out material from the particulate filter is discharged.
