The tensioner (1) has helical compression springs (5, 6) producing bias force and held in a cavity (22). An arcuate tensioning lever (9) is movably mounted in a plane of a circular arc in the cavity. The tensioning lever is pressurized by the springs and supports tensioning rollers. A slide bearing (24) for the tensioning lever, runs at an inlet of the cavity. The tensioning lever comprises a steel core with an aluminum sleeve, which encloses outside of the cavity and completely encloses the running part of the steel core within the slide bearing.
