The casting device has a hollow metallic core clamp (1) that is enclosed completely and opened at the ends to form a cooling channel (4) of crankcase. The core clamp is formed from a metal blank and designed as a plug-in portion of core. The metal blank has rectangular base portion with a central bending edge to form two longitudinal walls (2,3) of the core clamp. An independent claim is included for method for forming casting device.
