The circuit arrangement has a reference light-time sensor arranged outside a sensor element, and a modulation signal of a modulator (30) is supplied to the reference light-time sensor through an output circuit. The modulation signal is supplied to a light transit-time sensor (22) through a input circuit. The output switching subsequently follows signal transit time-relevant components of the electric tapping between the latter signal transit time-relevant components and the reference light transit time sensor. The input circuit is designed such that the signal processing of the input circuit is faster than in the output circuit.
