The assembly has a clutch cover (14) for partially covering a friction clutch (10). A swingable operating element i.e. elevation eleven-boar (18), moves a pressure plate (12) for frictionally pressing a clutch disk between the pressure plate and a counter plate. A tilting ring (30) is directly or indirectly supported to the clutch cover for pivotable mounting of the operating element. The ring is linearly fixed to the operating element in circumferential direction. A swivel surface (36) of the tilting ring is movably executed in axial direction around a limited track. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a friction clutch.
