Vibration damper (1) for damping of translational vibrations of a structure with:– a base (2), which has a fixing device and a first mounting surface (5),– the fastening device to the rigid fastening of the base (2) with the structure in a mounting direction (7) is formed,– the mounting direction (7), transversely to the oscillations of the structure runs and– the first mounting surface (5) in a direction transverse to the fastening direction (7) extends away from the fastening device,– a damping mass (4), the one of the first mounting surface (5) opposite second mounting surface (6), and– an elastomer spring (3), connected to said first and second mounting surface (5, 6) is connected,characterized in that the base (2) and the damping mass (4) in a direction transverse to a circumferential direction around the fastening direction (7) so as to engage into one another, that a rotational movement of the damping mass (4) about the mounting direction (7) with respect to the base (2) to a predetermined maximum angle of rotation is limited.
