The method involves providing a sonar device in the towed portion of the ship for acoustic-detection of torpedo. The noise source moving towards the ship is recognized as torpedo. The distance of ship with respect to torpedo is measured by the sonar device. The charge carriers of the towed portion are discharged if the distance between the ship and torpedo is less than specific range. The charge carriers are inactivated if the distance is greater than specific range.
