The method involves controlling the temperature of a battery (1) by injection of an alternating current into the battery, where the alternating current causes alternative charging and discharging of the battery so that the battery generates heat, and the frequency of the alternating current is between 1 Hertz (Hz) and 1000 Hz and preferably between 630 Hz and 10 Hz. The temperature control of the battery is activated when the battery temperature is lower than a minimum threshold temperature, and is deactivated when the battery temperature is higher than a maximum threshold temperature. An independent claim is also included for a heating device for heating a battery of a car.
